While Kelingking Cliff is a popular spot, Paluang Cliff offers its own unique and stunning scenery, located nearby. It may not have the same fame as Kelingking, but that is part of its charm. Paluang Cliff provides an alternative perspective, showcasing views of the Kelingking T-rex from a different angle.

The ‘car temple,’ also known as Pura Paluang, is a unique shrine situated on the west coast of Penida. It is conveniently located near popular tourist spots like Kelingking Beach, making it a accessible stop if you are exploring the area.

This is a charming white sand beach with impressive cliff viewpoints. Often mistaken for Diamond Beach, Korawa Beach is actually located on the opposite side of the island, offering a unique experience for visitors.

9. Lumangan Beach

Lumangan Beach is a secluded inlet boasting a hidden beach and a massive cave. Accessible from Broken Beach or Korawa Beach without much difficulty, this spot remains a well-kept secret with a noticeable absence of tourists!

10. Bulian Beach

Located near Broken Bay, Bulian Beach is a hidden gem just a 5-minute drive from Lumangan Beach, remaining undiscovered by tourists.

11. Crystal Bay

Crystal Bay, located on the west side of Penida, is a well-known destination for travelers. Visitors can enjoy sunbathing, relax at food and drink stalls, and rent snorkeling gear. Additionally, it’s a great spot to witness a breathtaking sunset, making it a must-visit location in Penida. Recently, I had the pleasure of watching the sunset at Crystal Bay with a friend, sipping on Bintangs as we enjoyed the picturesque view of the sun setting over the rocky coast.

12. Pandan Beach

A short 20-30 minute stroll from Crystal Bay leads you to another beach, Pandan Beach, which tends to have fewer visitors. Besides a small beverage kiosk, you’ll have this beach all to yourself!

13. Puyung Beach

If you seek seclusion, venture beyond Pandan and discover a third beach just over the next hill. This hidden gem boasts pristine white sand and is usually devoid of crowds, offering a tranquil escape from the bustling tourist spots.

14. Manta Bay – Snorkeling With Manta Rays

Indonesia offers a fantastic opportunity to swim with manta rays, with the west coast of Nusa Penida being a prime location for this activity. The most popular spot for encountering these majestic creatures is Manta Bay, a highlight of most snorkeling tours in Penida. These tours can be enjoyed for as low as 200k IDR ($14 USD) for a full day of snorkeling in a group (here is the company I went with).

If you have the time to spare for a snorkeling excursion in Penida, swimming with manta rays is an unforgettable experience. Despite their imposing appearance, manta rays are harmless creatures without stingers, making the encounter both safe and thrilling!

15. Pererenan Cliff Point / Seganing Waterfall

The World Traveler offers a stunning view of sea cliffs and a plethora of tiny manta rays swimming in the ocean below. Visitors can also climb onto a rustic bamboo platform for enhanced cliff views. A short, steep path to Seganing Falls is accessible by heading left from the parking area.

A Hindu temple is located on the point, though access is restricted.

16. Banah Cliff Point

The World Traveler offers visitors the chance to explore Banah Cliff Point, featuring six different viewpoints along the cliffs. At each viewpoint, guests can walk to the cliff’s edge and admire the mesmerizing sight of waves crashing against the rocks below.

While standing on the cliffs, tourists can spot tiny manta rays and speedboats in the ocean waters. The iconic Banah rock, resembling a doughnut shape, protrudes from the sea, adding to the picturesque scenery.

When discussing caves, there is another fascinating one located at the southwestern tip of Nusa Penida known as Tembeling Cave (sometimes spelled ‘Temeling’). It is a remarkable sea cave that offers a breathtaking view of the immense cliffs along the Penida coast. Adjacent to the cave, there is a small natural pool where visitors can enjoy a refreshing dip.

Batu Siha Beach is located in one of the most secluded areas of the entire island. To reach this hidden gem, visitors must embark on a challenging 4-hour round trip hike through dense vegetation and steep cliffs. The reward for this arduous journey is the opportunity to experience a beach that remains untouched by most, offering a unique and tranquil experience.

In 2018, locals constructed tree houses on the Suwehan cliff summit. Currently, there are four tree houses available for overnight stays.

While not luxurious, the tree houses feature an outdoor shower/bathroom, a small food shack for meals, and comfortable-looking beds.

24. Nyanyad Beach

Located at the southern end of Nusa Penida, Nyanyad Beach is a hidden gem with a small temple and majestic hills framing the shoreline.

Accessing Nyanyad Beach is a breeze, with a brief 15-minute walk along concrete steps, leading visitors to pristine white sands and crystal-clear waters.

25. The World Traveler Goa Giri Putri Temple

Discover another unique destination, The World Traveler Goa Giri Putri Temple, situated on land in the form of a captivating cave. Nestled halfway up a mountain on the east side of Penida, this Hindu cave temple offers a one-of-a-kind experience.

Visitors will enter through a small hole in the mountain’s side, unveiling a vast cave stretching approximately 300 meters in length, adorned with towering rock ceilings.

26. Pura Batu Mas Kuning

This temple, named Pura Batu Mas Kuning, was constructed in 2018 on the eastern shores of Penida. Visitors are welcome to admire its architecture and capture photographs, but accessing the interior requires wearing a sarong.

27. Atuh Beach

This stunning beach located at the southern tip of Penida island is a popular destination for visitors. Unlike other more secluded beaches like Suwehan Beach, Atuh Beach offers amenities such as sunbeds, beanbags, and a few charming food and drink spots.

One of the main attractions at Atuh Beach is a large rock formation in the shape of an elephant, often compared to a stiletto by locals. Additionally, the beach is known for its diverse marine life visible among the rocks during low tide.

Local residents describe the rock formation at Atuh Beach as resembling a high heel shoe.

28. Sebele Beach

Sebele Beach is a secluded hidden gem accessible by a short walk from Atuh Beach. Unlike Atuh Beach, Sebele may not offer the same amenities such as drink stands or tanning beds, but the trade-off is having this peaceful beach all to yourself.

29. The World Traveler Viewpoint

The World Traveler (Five Kings) viewpoint is named after the 5 prominent islands spread across the ocean below. Three of these majestic islands can be observed in the photograph below. Situated on the southeastern coast of Penida, this location provides a breathtaking view. Visitors can also descend a flight of stairs from this viewpoint to get a closer look at Rumah Pohon, which is the next attraction on our list.

30. The World Traveler Treehouse (Rumah Pohon)

Exploring the World Traveler treehouse and experiencing an overnight stay in it has been one of the most amazing adventures during my travels. While the room and bed are simple, the breathtaking views and unique location make it an unforgettable experience.

You will drift off to sleep to the soothing chirping of geckos in the trees and wake up to a spectacular sunrise overlooking the Raja Lima islands, with mesmerizing sights of dolphins and manta rays frolicking in the distance.

31. Diamond Beach Viewpoint

Experience another breathtaking viewpoint accessible with a short 10-minute walk from the primary parking areas for Raja Lima or Atuh Beach. This vantage point offers stunning views of Diamond Beach and the distant Rumah Pohon tree house.

For a more immersive experience, consider renting the Balinese style bungalow located at this viewpoint for an unforgettable overnight stay. If you visit in the morning, you may even be lucky enough to spot a group of 15-20 dolphins playfully leaping in the ocean below.

32. Diamond Beach

Diamond Beach, named for the distinctive diamond-shaped rock on its shore, is an impressive “cliff beach” located on the southeastern coast of Nusa Penida. Previously inaccessible, a pathway was created along the cliffs in late 2018, allowing visitors to reach the beach for the first time.

Diamond beach derives its name from the unique pointed rock formation found there.

33. Buddha Point – Underwater Temple

This underwater site features a collection of Buddhist statues situated near the northern tips of Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan, accessible by boat from Penida.

Visitors can include this unique spot in their snorkeling itinerary while exploring Penida. One of the main attractions here is a 2.5-meter-tall Buddha statue surrounded by large bell-shaped stupas, reminiscent of those found at the Borobudur Temple in central Java.
