Exploring The World Traveler Museum

The Samurai Museum offers an exciting experience for visitors.

This museum, spanning two floors, showcases an impressive collection of helmets, armor suits, swords, guns, and other artifacts from the era of the Samurai.

Each item is accurately labeled with its historical time period, and many of the exhibits boast exceptional uniqueness.

The admission fee of approximately $18 USD seemed a bit steep for the experience offered, although it didn’t leave me feeling like I was shortchanged.

It would be more appealing if they could consider reducing the price or expanding the museum’s collection to provide more to explore. The exhibition rooms are somewhat compact, but that seems to be the standard in Tokyo!

Despite the size limitations, I found the visit to be enjoyable and worthwhile, especially if you’re in the Shinjuku vicinity. The on-site gift shop features authentic items for purchase, albeit at a premium price.

Tour & Activities

The staff at The Samurai Museum are extremely welcoming, offering a complimentary English guided tour daily. These group tours are conducted every 20-30 minutes, with guides leading visitors through each room, providing detailed explanations of the exhibits.

Following the tour, visitors have the opportunity to have their photo taken while wearing a Samurai helmet or even donning a complete Samurai costume, as shown in the pictures below.

A visitor’s experience shared that trying on the Samurai costume was enjoyable. This added activity comes at no extra cost, making the museum ticket even more worthwhile.

As per the official website of The Samurai Museum, there are other special activities available throughout the day, such as calligraphy lessons and sword lectures.
