During my visit in 2018, I was truly impressed by the sheer scale and beauty of The Jame´s Asr Hassanill Bolkiah Mosque. It is definitely a must-see if you find yourself traveling through Brunei.

Featuring 29 golden domes and four towering minarets standing at 60 meters high, Jame´s Asr Hassanill Bolkiah Mosque boasts an impressive size and intricate design.
Visitors can opt for a taxi ride to the mosque or use Brunei’s local taxi app called Dart, offering a convenient and cost-effective transportation alternative akin to a Bruneian version of Uber.

Upon my arrival in Brunei, I arranged for an airport taxi to my hotel and requested a brief stop at the mosque. The driver happily waited for a nominal extra fee while I explored the mosque and captured some photographs.
With Brunei being recognized for its safety and low crime rate, I felt comfortable leaving my luggage in the taxi’s trunk without any concerns. Spending about half an hour at the mosque was adequate, but those interested in exploring the interior could certainly extend their visit.
Visiting the mosque after sundown provides a spectacular sight, as the entire structure is illuminated from the outside, gleaming in bright gold hues.

Accommodation Options in Brunei
Accommodations
During my trip, I chose to stay at Qing Yun Resthouse Bandar, located near the BSB riverfront. I opted for a private air-conditioned room, which cost $33 USD per night. Brunei may not be the most budget-friendly destination, so this rate was a good find.
The hotel’s location was ideal, just a brief 5-minute stroll from the renowned Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque and Royal Regalia Museum. Additionally, it was conveniently situated atop a shopping complex with numerous dining options.
Keep in mind that prices can vary, so it’s advisable to be on the lookout for favorable deals.
