Various options exist for reaching the natural pool. While many opt for a jeep tour, others can hike from the Arikok Visitor’s Center to access this beautiful spot.

During the journey, hikers may encounter goats, lizards, and other fascinating wildlife, with the ultimate reward being a refreshing swim in the natural pool at the trail’s end.

This hike is lengthy and exposed, subjecting hikers to intense heat. It is advisable to purchase your park pass in advance and commence the hike no later than 6 AM. Remember to bring a hat, sunscreen, and ample water supply to stay hydrated.

2. Daimari to Conchi Natural Pool

En route, you will come across Boca Keto, a striking twin beach featuring the distinctive ‘Klein Aruba’ rock formation, resembling a miniature version of the island of Aruba when viewed from above.

This scenic hike through Arikok National Park was a highlight for us, providing a solitary experience away from the crowds.

Ensure to protect yourself from the sun by wearing a hat, applying sunscreen, and carrying an ample supply of water, especially as this is the island’s most secluded area.

Parking at the top of the hill near Rancho Daimari (map here) is necessary due to the challenging road conditions with large potholes.

3. Seroe Colorado Natural Bridge

Aruba boasts various rock bridges created by sea erosion, with one of the most famous being the natural bridge at Andicuri Bay, a popular stop for many day tours.

However, the ultimate rock bridge gem in Aruba remains relatively undiscovered, away from the typical tourist routes. The hidden treasure is the Seroe Colorado natural bridge, nestled in the southern tip of the island. You can pinpoint its location on the map here.

The Seroe Colorado bridge is a sight to behold, framing the ocean like a piece of art! To reach it, drive to San Nicolas and embark on a brief (albeit challenging) 10-minute descent down the rocky terrain.

The trail to this natural wonder is not well-marked, featuring rugged terrain with sharp rocks and a steep incline. I recommend this adventure only for those with sturdy footing and proper footwear, as the breathtaking views make the excursion truly worthwhile!

4. Exploring Casibari Rocks

Experience the beauty of the Casibari rock formation, a free attraction located in central Aruba. Visitors can climb to the top of the rock pile and admire the stunning views of the island.

A staircase leads to the summit of the rocks, making it accessible for all ages, although a moderate level of physical effort is required. The ascent to the top can be completed in just a few minutes. While there is a safety fence at the platform, it is advisable to supervise young children.

At the peak of the rocks, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Aruba island and the prominent Hooiberg hill, one of the highest points on the island. While the views may not be overwhelmingly stunning, a visit to this spot is still recommended for its unique perspectives.

5. Hooiberg Hill

The Hooiberg hill, located in central Aruba, is the second-highest peak on the island with an elevation of 165 meters (541 feet). Named after the Dutch word for haystack, the hill’s unique shape sets it apart.

Despite its appearance, climbing Hooiberg is a manageable feat, and those in good physical condition can conquer it in just 20 minutes. The ascent is aided by paved stairs, though be prepared for the challenge of hundreds of steps!

It’s advisable to tackle this hike during cooler parts of the day to avoid the heat. Be sure to bring a hat and ample water for the journey.

Once at the summit, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Aruba and even as far as Venezuela in South America. It’s an ideal spot for witnessing the magical moments of sunrise and sunset!

6. Ayo Rocks

The Ayo Rocks formation is a delightful hiking spot in Aruba suitable for families, children, and tourists of all ages.

Exploring the caves and passages among the rocks adds an extra element of fun to the adventure, but be cautious of wasp nests that may occasionally be present.

We stumbled upon this location while driving around Aruba, and it turned out to be a rewarding discovery. Entry is free, and the site is open 24/7.

7. Noordkaap Trail

This trail commences at the parking lot for Aruba’s renowned Natural Bridge, a popular stop for many day tours (map here). The trek leads you to Blackstone Beach, a truly distinctive spot in Aruba.

Although not suitable for swimming due to its strong currents, this isolated beach is adorned with smooth black rocks and features an unusual three-pronged natural arc known as the Tripod Bridge.

I opted to head back upon reaching Blackstone Beach, but if you continue, the path eventually guides you to Daimari Beach and the Conchi Natural Pool. Overall, this is a top choice for those seeking out-of-the-ordinary beaches and sea arches in Aruba!

Time: 45 – 60 minutes

8. Westpunt Trail

Experience the beauty of the northwestern tip of Aruba island, the Westpunt Trail. This scenic trail offers breathtaking views of the ocean, sand dunes, and the iconic California Lighthouse.

Despite its proximity to popular tourist spots like Arashi Beach, Westpunt Trail provides a tranquil and secluded atmosphere. The trail is flat and easy to navigate, allowing hikers to customize the length of their journey.

A complete round trip along the Westpunt Trail, including a return via the road to California Lighthouse, spans approximately 3.5 kilometers (2.2 miles). For a shorter outing, many visitors choose to stroll along the coast for half an hour before retracing their steps. In any case, Westpunt Trail is an ideal retreat from the usual tourist crowds.

9. Dos Playa Trail

Dos Playa consists of two picturesque beaches located within the Arikok National Park. The road leading to these beaches is quite rough, prompting some visitors to opt for hiking instead of driving.

These beaches are usually uncrowded and offer a serene backdrop for photography, with large waves crashing against the rocky shoreline. However, swimming is not advisable in this area.

The first beach can be reached after a 20-minute hike, followed by the second beach in just 10 to 15 minutes.

10. Jamanota Hill

Jamanota Hill is the highest point on the beautiful island of Aruba, standing at an elevation of 188 meters (617 feet) above sea level. Its name originates from the Arawak language, meaning ‘Source of Great Spirits.’

The majority of the way to the summit is accessible by car, with the option to park and complete the remainder of the journey on foot. However, there have been recent reports of a fence with a significant gap that needs to be navigated. This location provides a breathtaking view of both sunrise and sunset, making it a truly spectacular experience!
